My Card unites local businesses and communities. It encourages local purchasing, charitable giving, community awareness - and gives a focus to individual towns and cities.
My Card encourages local shopping whilst rewarding customers and donating to their favourite causes.
Local businesses subscribe to My Card and are registered on the website. Local people buy a card, and activate it online by supplying bank details and nominating a charity.
Whenever the cardholder makes a purchase at a My Card business, the card is swiped and a discount is calculated. A donation is made to the cardholder’s nominated charity, and the refund is paid to the cardholder each month.
A pilot scheme has been launched in Camborne, Cornwall, with 1000 cards being handed out to shoppers to use in participating retailers. The full “My Heart of Cornwall” Card will be rolled out across Camborne, Pool and Redruth in February 2009.
